Family values are strong among a group of wild boars that were seen out and about on Saturday (July 9).

Stomper Ethan captured dashcam footage of the wild boars crossing the road at Dairy Farm towards Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) at around 12.20pm.

The video shows a larger wild boar leading its herd of four others – two medium-sized boars and two piglets – across the road. The pair of piglets are right in the middle.

Ethan said: "I have encountered wild boars walking on pavements but have never seen one crossing the road and having traffic stop for them, let alone a whole family.

"I felt very excited by the encounter as I don’t come across such things on a daily basis. Having to stop my car and letting the wild boars cross was really an amazing experience that I might not get again."

The Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (Acres) have urged motorists to curb roadkill by being more vigilant, especially when driving in areas where wildlife are known to cross.

Members of the public are also advised to leave adult wild boars with young piglets alone. Mothers are very protective of their young and can easily be provoked, making them potentially more dangerous.
