Wheel separates from car in accident at Sengkang junction, man arrested for drink driving

Two cars were involved in an accident at the junction of Fernvale Street and Fernvale Link in Sengkang during the wee hours of Sunday (May 28).

In response to a Stomp query, police said a 34-year-old female car passenger was conscious when taken to the hospital.

A 46-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink driving.

A video posted online shows that the impact of the collision was so great that at least a front wheel and two doors were separated from one car.

In another video, a traffic light and a lamp post were knocked down. Three Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles were at the scene with a fourth one arriving.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said: "A person was found trapped in the front passenger seat of a vehicle. SCDF rescued the person using hydraulic rescue equipment. SCDF conveyed the person to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. 

"Another person was assessed by an SCDF paramedic for minor injuries and the person refused conveyance to the hospital."

Police investigations are ongoing.
