Stomper Ducimer came across an injured monitor lizard near Block 122 Punggol Walk yesterday (Jul 31) at around 11.30am.

In a telephone interview, the Stomper said that the reptile had sustained injuries on its tail and its left hind leg.

According to him, the tip of the lizard's tail looked like it was cut off and its leg seemed like it had been run over.

A video the Stomper sent shows an open wound on the creature's hind leg. Several flies can be seen over the injury.

Ducimer estimates the monitor lizard to be around one-and-a-half metres long.

He alerted the police about what happened, and was told that they had referred the matter to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA).
