Voyeur allegedly took upskirt photo of woman in Hougang lift, punched her twice and fled

A 30-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of voyeurism in which he allegedly took an upskirt photo of a woman and then assaulted her before fleeing.

The police received a report about the incident on Sep 23, at around 10pm, about how the man had allegedly taken the picture inside the lift of a block along Hougang Avenue 5.

"When the victim confronted the man, he allegedly punched the victim twice on her cheek and fled the scene," said the police in a statement on Friday (Sep 25).

Through investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him on Sep 24.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The offence of voyeurism carries a jail term of up to two years, and/or a fine, and/or caning.

For allegedly punching the victim, the man is also being investigated for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
