A portion of an open field caught fire near the junction of Yishun Avenue 2 and Lentor Avenue on Sunday afternoon (Feb 3).

Stomper Lin alerted Stomp to the fire and shared photos she took at the scene.

"The fire started small from the grass and bush areas then rapidly became bigger and more ferocious as it spread to the forested area towards the back," she said after seeing the fire at about 2.30pm near the train tracks.

"The smoke became thick and hot as the fire got bigger.

"The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived within five to 10 minutes and were still putting out the fire at 2.45pm."

In response to a Stomp media query, the SCDF said they were alerted to the fire at about 2.20pm.

"The fire was extinguished by SCDF using two water jets," a spokesman said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
