Used condom found at Bukit Batok staircase landing: Cleaning and disinfection done

Chua Chu Kang Town Council (CCKTC) has responded to an incident in which a resident discovered rubbish - including a used condom - at a staircase landing in Bukit Batok.

Stomper JTan had come across the disgusting sight on the second-floor staircase landing of Block 524 Bukit Batok Street 52 on Tuesday night (June 1) and filed a police report.

Photos and a video show a can of soda and a bottle of green tea discarded at the staircase landing, as well as a used condom hanging on the railing.

In response to a Stomp query, the town council confirmed that it was notified of the matter on Thursday (June 3).

A spokesman for CCKTC said: "We immediately inspected the area and carried out a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the staircase landing and all affected parts.

"We would like to take this opportunity to appeal to residents and visitors to keep the environment clean, and to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of all public areas.

"Members of the public are also reminded to be considerate and to dispose of waste properly by using the rubbish bins available.

"Littering is an offence.

"We will monitor the reported area and hope that such incidents will not take place again."

JTan told Stomp that she received a call from the town council, informing her that the area has been cleaned up.

She added: "Really appreciate Stomp posting this. I believe it will reach those who always leave their rubbish lying around. Thank you so much and stay safe!"
