8-year-old boy chained naked to stairway by dad in KL: Mum left him when he was 8 months old

The state Welfare Department is looking for the mother or close relatives of the eight-year-old boy who was stripped naked and chained to the stairway of a high-rise in Paya Terubong, Kuala Lumpur.

Department director Said Sidup said it would look for the boy’s family members so that he could be placed with them, reports The Star.

“He is now at Penang Hospital for medical checkup as this is our standard procedure when it comes to such cases. We need to determine if he has any old scars or signs of prolonged abuse.

“His health is quite good so far, and we will proceed with a psychiatric examination after this. The next step is finding him a home when he is discharged,” he said yesterday.

Said added that the boy’s mother left him with the father when he was eight months old.

“We are unable to trace any of his family members so far.

It would be better if he could stay with them.

“If we still cannot find his family members by the time he is discharged, we will place him under our custody,” he said.

Said said the father was not allowed to visit the boy until clearance by the police and the courts.

OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid when contacted said the father had been released on police bail pending investigations.

He was arrested at about 4pm on Monday when he turned up at the Air Itam police station to give a statement.

It was reported that the boy was chained naked to the stairway for about five hours by his father for being naughty.
