Uncle in supermarket confronts voyeur he sees placing phone under female victim's dress

Mr Ng Fook Leong was browsing for groceries at a supermarket when he spotted a man discreetly placing a mobile phone under a female victim’s dress.

The victim was squatting down and had not noticed it.

Mr Ng immediately alerted the female victim and confronted the man before calling the police.

The man was subsequently arrested for voyeurism.

For his good deed on Nov 8 last year, Mr Ng was one of five members of the public to receive Public Spiritedness Award presented by the Clementi Police Division on Monday (Feb 6).

Two other recipients were neighbours, Ms Herda Wati Binte Abdul Rahman and Mr Osman Bin Talib.

On Sept 21 last year, Ms Herda and Mr Osman were at home when they heard a scream from their void deck. They checked the void deck and saw a female victim in distress. They immediately called for the police and gathered information from the victim.

Mr Osman helped to search for the man while Ms Herda stayed with the female victim to calm her down. Mr Osman managed to locate the man onboard a bus and alerted nearby police officers to the man’s location.

Their actions led to the swift arrest of the man for outrage of modesty.

The fourth and fifth recipient of the Public Spiritedness Award were Mr Lee Weiming and Mr Lee Kok Hon

On July 14 last year, they witnessed a man stealing a handbag from the victim and fleeing the scene. They immediately gave chase and managed to detain the man. They prevented the man from escaping with the stolen handbag and handed him over to the responding police officers.
