Truck catches fire on BKE after Mandai exit: Thick column of smoke seen from Bukit Panjang

A truck caught fire on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Friday evening (Sep 13).
Several Stompers alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos and videos taken as they were passing by the scene.
The truck was engulfed in flames with smoke billowing from it.
Stomper Sree told Stomp that he could see the thick column of smoke from his flat in Bukit Panjang.
In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they responded to the fire after the Mandai Road exit at about 5.05pm.
"The fire was extinguished by SCDF using one water jet and one hose reel," an SCDF spokesman said.
There were no reported injuries and the fire is under investigation.
