A tree that fell at Block 190 Boon Lay Drive on Tuesday (July 26) was certified healthy by an arborist in April, said the West Coast Town Council.

Sharing photos of the fallen tree, Stomper Ivan said: "Fortunately, no one was around when it fell. Otherwise, it could have been fatal."

He pointed out that it was near a playground and several benches.

In response to a Stomp query, the West Coast Town Council said: "The town council was first alerted to the incident at around 1.30am. Contractors were quickly activated to cordon off the area and the tree was removed at 5.35am. There is no injury reported and no damage caused to the common property.

"The last health check to the tree was conducted on April 2022 and it was certified healthy by our arborist. The cause of the incident was due to recent wet weather and strong wind last night. Our horticulture team had also checked on the surrounding trees to ensure that they are healthy and not affected.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents and public during this period."
