The town council has removed clutter dumped at the lift lobby of a Housing Board (HDB) block in Ang Mo Kio and cleaned up the affected area, a spokesman told Stomp.

A Stomper shared photos of the rubbish that he saw at the ninth-floor lift lobby of Block 217 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 on Tuesday (Sep 8), at around 5pm.

A mattress, a bicycle, plastic bags, fast food paper bags and a used mask can be seen among the items discarded at the lift lobby.

The Stomper said: "This is not the first time it's happening. They treat the lift lobby like a rubbish bin. Is this the rubbish corner?"

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for Ang Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC) said it had removed all the items which were "indiscriminately placed" at the said location on Sep 9.

The affected area was also cleaned up.

"AMKTC provides monthly removal service for bulky items such as mattress, on a goodwill basis for our HDB residents. This is limited to 3 items per household per month," said the spokesman.

"Residents can contact us at 6453 0511 during office hours (Mondays to Fridays – 8am to 5pm and Saturdays - 8am to 1pm).

"We would like to encourage residents to play an active role in keeping our estate clean, safe, and a conducive living environment for all."
