Sembawang Town Council has found a lapse in the cleaners' standard of procedure (SOP) after a resident complained that he could smell rubbish from the top floor at Block 693D Woodlands Avenue 6.

Stomper Daniel informed Stomp about the incident that occurred on Tuesday (Sep 8) at 8.30pm and sent photos of what he saw.

"Seems like the cleaner was not doing his rounds before ending his job," Stomper Daniel said.

"Lots of cartons were being left inside the CRC which could be a potential fire hazard.

"The shutter was also left open and I could smell the rubbish from the top floor."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for Sembawang Town Council said: "The boxes were stacked there for our public waste collector's collection on Wednesday morning (Sep 9).

"Our investigation shows a lapse in our workers' standard of procedure (SOP) to ensure the shutter remains shut when the CRC is not in use.

"The CRC was locked up after they ended their last sweep of the day on Tuesday evening (Sep 8) at approximately 8.30pm.

"The carton boxes have been collected on Wednesday morning (Sep 9), and our workers have been reminded to ensure the shutter to the CRC is rolled down whenever it is not in use."
