Teen, 19, arrested after allegedly spraying two units at Yishun and Sembawang with red paint

A 19-year-old teenager was arrested for his suspected involvement in two cases of loanshark harassment.

The police said in a statement that they were alerted to the cases at two residential units along Yishun Central and Canberra Street on May 12.

For the first case, 'O$P$' was sprayed on the wall beside the unit with red paint.

For the second case, the main gate, door and walls beside the unit were sprayed with red paint.

A debtor's note was also left on a shoe rack.

Officers identified and arrested the teen on May 13.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he is allegedly involved in similar cases of loanshark harassment islandwide.

He will be charged in court on May 15.

Those found guilty of loanshark harassment can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000, jailed for up to five years, and caned up to six strokes.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not work with or assist them in any way.
