A student had a near-accident with a mobile crane while dashing across the road.

Stomper O shared dashcam footage of the incident that occurred along West Coast Road after witnessing the close shave while driving.

In the video, the student can be seen running across the road while appearing to have a mobile phone held to her ear.

O told Stomp on Friday (March 26): "I am the driver who recorded this on my car camera.

"This happened at the junction between Pandan Gardens and Teban Gardens, near Commonwealth Secondary School.

"I did not feel right when I saw the female student running across the road and the mobile crane starting to pick up its speed, so I started to honk.

"It's so lucky that they both stopped in time. They came so close to each other.

"I hope something can be done about this junction. It's quite a long cross for pedestrians who have to cross two roads to get to the other side."

O said the incident took place on the afternoon of July 31, 2019, and explained: "The reason I am sharing this now is very simple: I would like to improve the safety of this junction for all students and pedestrians who cross the road.

"It doesn't matter whether it has been 10 or 20 years. I feel like I have the responsibility to point it out."
