S'porean worker dies after getting trapped in cable drum atop crane at PSA's Keppel terminal

A 33-year-old Singaporean man died at PSA's Keppel terminal yesterday morning (Sep 20).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), who were alerted to the rescue incident at around 10.20am, dispatched a fire engine, a Red Rhino, an ambulance and three support vehicles to the scene.

Upon SCDF's arrival, they found the man trapped in a cable drum on top of a crane, reported The Straits Times.

A cable drum is a round, cylindrical object used to carry wound-up wires and cables.

The man, who is understood to be a worker at the terminal, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

SCDF and PSA's in-house emergency team brought the victim's body down the crane.
