The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is investigating an incident in which a pet poodle was seen standing precariously close to a balcony edge in Tampines.

Stomper Red Lion spotted the dog at Block 19 of the Arc at Tampines condominium on Tuesday (Aug 11), at 8.18am.

She said: I saw the brown poodle standing at the edge of the balcony on the fourth floor, though I'm not sure if it was on a leash."

Responding to Stomp queries, SPCA's executive director Dr Jaipal Singh Gill said: "We are currently investigating the case and we will provide the dog owner with appropriate advice.

"Each home is different and comes with its own unique set of dangers.

"As the majority of us live in high-rise apartments, special attention must be given to the hazard of falling from height.

"Sometimes a simple change can solve a problem and eliminate a potential danger. Pet guardians should do everything they can to ensure their pet is not put in harm’s way."

Pet owners can reach out to the SPCA for help if required, added Dr Gill.
