The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is seeking information after a cat died despite receiving medical treatment.

Stomper Bhav Ni alerted Stomp to the incident after finding the cat at Block 106 Jalan Bukit Merah on June 11.

She told Stomp she believes the cat was allegedly fed with poisoned food.

"Please broadcast this message," she said.

"There are a few stray cats there and we worry that other cats may have been fed with poisoned food too.

"This heartless incident calls for an investigation."

In response to a Stomp query, SPCA's executive director Dr Jaipal Singh Gill said: "The SPCA rescued the cat after being alerted to its condition by a concerned member of public.

"Despite receiving medical treatment, the cat unfortunately passed away.

"We are seeking information about the circumstances leading to the condition of the cat."

Anyone with information can contact the SPCA at 6287 5355 ext 9.

All information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
