A taxi caught fire at the junction of Jurong East Street 24 and Jurong East Avenue 1 on Saturday afternoon (July 25).

Stompers Ridhwan and Wong sent videos showing the Trans-Cab taxi engulfed in flames.

In the videos, thick black smoke can be seen rising into the air as the taxi is burning.

At one point, an explosion sends sparks flying. An onlooker can be heard exclaiming in shock.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it was alerted to the blaze at around 1.25pm and extinguished it with a hose reel.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of fire is under investigation.

Ridhwan told Stomp: "The firemen did a great job extinguishing the fire fast."
