SMRT takes disciplinary action against bus captain who nearly hit car, beat red light in Clarke Quay

Transport operator SMRT has taken disciplinary action against a bus captain who was caught on camera beating a red light in Clarke Quay.

Stomper Alyannie had earlier shared dashcam footage of the incident that occurred along Eu Tong Sen Street on Wednesday (Jan 4), at around 3.12pm.

In the video, the bus can be seen driving out of its lane and nearly hitting Alyannie's car, then beating the red light despite a pedestrian waiting to cross the road.

In response to a Stomp query, Mr Vincent Gay, deputy managing director of SMRT Buses, said on Saturday (Jan 7): "We investigated the incident and have taken disciplinary action against the bus captain.

"The safety of our commuters and other road users is our top priority.

"We train, and constantly remind, our bus captains to strictly observe all safety and road regulations.”
