An SMRT bus captain has been suspended after a near-collision with a pedestrian who was crossing the road in Choa Chu Kang.

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante posted a video of the incident that is said to have occurred on Friday (April 23), at 7.44am.

In the video, a woman can be seen crossing the road while the traffic light was flashing the green man.

Meanwhile, SMRT bus service 190 can be seen turning in and almost hitting the pedestrian. Fortunately, she scurries out of the way in time.

The woman can be seen looking at the bus as it continues on its way, before walking back to the pavement.

In response to a Stomp query, Mr Lee Yong Heng, director of bus operations at SMRT Buses, said: "We have reviewed the video of the incident. The bus captain is suspended pending investigation. Safety is top priority for us."
