16-year-old arrested for attempted suicide after jumping into water near VivoCity

A 16-year-old male was arrested in relation to an attempted suicide case after jumping into the waters near VivoCity at about 7.40pm yesterday (Apr 22).

Stomper Vincent came across the commotion when he was at VivoCity.

He saw many SCDF and police personnel at near the waters.

Vincent soon realised that there were two men in the water, and that SCDF personnel were trying to rescue them.

"This went on for about 20 minutes, and they were both eventually pulled out of the water," said Vincent.

Stomper Farhan added that a teenager had jumped into the water and another guy had jumped in to rescue him.

In response to Stomp's queries about the incident, an SCDF spokesperon said:

"SCDF was alerted to an incident at VivoCity, One Harboufront Walk, at around 7.40pm and dispatched two fire engine, two fire bikes, one ambulance and one support vehicle to the location.

"Both male subjects refused conveyance to the hospital."

The police said that they were alerted to a case of attempted suicide at Sentosa Gateway.

"No injuries were reported and a 16-year-old male was arrested in relation to the case," said a police spokesperson.
