Stomper Rafe  and Stomper Edwin reported seeing a mysterious white blimp floating over Jurong West yesterday (Dec 5) from as early as 11.20 am.

But it turns out that it is the Singapore Air Force's latest aerostat.

The aerostat is a tethered balloon system with 24/7 low-level radar coverage to monitor threats over Singapore's air and sea space.

The 55-metre-long balloon is said to add an extra layer of defense any aerial and maritime threats.

The RSAF were conducting tests on the aerostat, including its complex system tuning, to make sure that it meets RSAF's operational requirements and safety standards.
