CNB officer breaks open door of Hougang flat during operation, 4 suspected drug abusers arrested

Two females and two males suspected of abusing drugs were arrested after officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) raided a HDB flat in Hougang on Mar 1.

A video published on All Singapore Stuff shows a CNB officer breaking open the door of the HDB unit by hitting it forcefully with a black object. The loud knocks can be heard distinctly from the opposite block.

A caption on the video gave the impression that the incident took place at Block 263 in Yishun. CNB however has clarified that the operation happened in Hougang.

Said a CNB spokesperson:

"CNB understands that a video had been posted  on 2 Mar 2017 night on the Facebook page of a local forum, of a CNB operation that purportedly took place in Yishun.

"We confirm that an operation did take place, but it was in Hougang, and not Yishun as claimed in the Facebook post.

"On 1 Mar 2017, our officers were involved in an operation at the said unit in Hougang to arrest suspected drug offenders in the unit.

"Upon arrival, CNB officers identified themselves, giving repeated requests and warning to the occupants in the unit to open the door.

"While there was no response from within the unit, our officers had assessed that there were occupants within the unit.

"The trained officers then used the specialised equipment to gain entry into the unit.

"From this operation, we arrested 2 female and 2 male suspected drug abusers. All are Singaporeans.

"Investigations are ongoing."
