The Singapore Food Authority (SFA) has responded to an incident where a man was seen handling food with his bare hands at a coffee shop food stall in Choa Chu Kang (CCK).

Stomper Athena shared with Stomp photos of the man preparing food in the kitchen area without wearing any gloves at food stall Grill Werkz at Block 810 Choa Chu Kang Ave 7.

She said the photos were taken on Mar 29.

"I last visited the CCK outlet on Apr 14 and it is the same situation," she said.

"The chefs do not use gloves when they handle food, be it raw food or other ingredients."

In response to a Stomp query, an SFA spokesman said:

"Under the Environmental Public Health (Food Hygiene) Regulations, food handlers must not handle cooked and ready-to-eat food with bare hands.

"SFA conducts regular inspections of food retail establishments to ensure compliance with our regulations, and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if necessary.

"Food safety is a joint responsibility.

"While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.

"Members of the public who come across any potentially errant food operator should report to SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback).

"As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details.

"SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant food handlers if we have obtained sufficient evidence."
