Seen a Certis officer without a mask? Don't jump to conclusions just yet.

A Stomper spotted a Certis auxiliary police officer who did not appear to have a face mask on at the zebra crossing at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on Wednesday (Aug 5).

The Stomper noticed the officer at Block 5 of the hospital at 11.33am and shared photos.

He said: "Why is this officer not wearing a face mask while on duty?"

Well, there is actually a reason for that.

In response to Stomp queries, a Certis spokesman said: "This is a Certis auxiliary police officer performing traffic control at a zebra crossing at SGH.

"All our officers are required to wear masks at all times, except during traffic control where it is necessary to use a whistle.

"This is to alert motorists and it is for the safety of pedestrians and other road users.

"Our officers are required to don their masks again immediately after completing their traffic control duties."
