Security guard in coma after leaping from Grab car during argument with female friend

A 31-year-old security guard has fallen into a coma after jumping from a moving vehicle during an argument with a female friend. 

The incident happened along Telok Blangah Road on Monday (Aug 14) at 6.50am. 

Family members of the victim said that he was injured badly and had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment. 

They are also appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. 

The 34-year-old older brother of the victim told Shin Min Daily News that the victim suffered bleeding in his brain, and had undergone two operations already.

The victim is still in a coma and requires a respirator to breathe.

According to the brother, the victim had worked as a security personnel at a nightclub along Telok Blangah Road for about 10 years. 

Prior to the incident, the victim had just finished a shift and had met up with a female Vietnamese friend before taking a Grab ride home together. 

The victim’s brother said that the Vietnamese woman had told him that the victim had got into an argument with her during the trip home, and had jumped out from the car while it was still moving. 

The Grab driver subsequently called for an ambulance. 

In response to media queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted to the incident at 6.55am on Aug 14, 2017.

An ambulance, a fire bike were dispatched to the scene, and a man was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.
