A Jurong West resident called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for help after accidentally locking himself out of his unit.

Stomper Alang came across two firefighters from the SCDF attempting to gain entry to a second-storey unit via its windows at Block 492 Jurong West Street 41 on Monday (April 9), at about 3.36pm.

He quickly took a video and sent it to Stomp.

In the video that Alang took, the firefighters are seen climbing a ladder to access the flat's windows.

One of the firefighters then pries open the windows and climbs into the flat.

A paramedic stood at the base of the ladder to stabilise it.

Said Alang: "I'm not sure what happened, but I did not see anyone injured.

"I feel that the SCDF are really good at what they do, helping Singaporeans in need."

In response to a Stomp query, an SCDF spokesman said that it responded to a case of a locked door at Block 492 Jurong West Street 41.

The resident told SCDF that the main door was locked, and her key had been left inside the unit.

The homeowner also had a two-year-old son inside, who was crying.

SCDF officers then climbed into the unit via an open kitchen window to unlock the door for the resident.
