SCDF called in after treadmill catches fire in gym at Balestier Road

A treadmill caught fire at a The Training Ground gym along Balestier Road on Friday afternoon (Dec 7).

Stomper Siti alerted Stomp to the fire and shared a video she took of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers at the scene while driving along Balestier Road at about 1.30pm.

"We were stuck in a jam and were curious at what happened because there were so many SCDF and police vehicles around," she said.

In response to a Stomp media query, an SCDF spokesman said they were alerted to an incident at 7 Balestier Road at around 1pm.

"The fire involved a treadmill inside a gym," the spokesman said.

It was extinguished by SCDF using two compressed air foam backpacks.

There were no reported injuries.
