Residents and foreign workers break fast together at Woodlands block

Foreign workers were invited to break fast together with Woodlands Crescent residents at a volunteer event on Saturday (May 18), at around 6.30pm.

Organised by nine Malay volunteers from the Sembawang Zone D Residents' Network, the 'Buka Puasa Gathering and Flea Market' event was held at Block 780G Woodlands Crescent Link House.

Over 60 people broke their fast together with a traditional snack of dates and water, followed by a packed meal after prayers.

Mr Al-Amin and Mr Golam Hossain, both Bangladeshis working as cleaners, said: "This is our second time breaking fast with locals and we are happy to be welcomed."

Fadhylah Binti Khairoullah, one of the organising members, also shared: "The Malay volunteers invited these foreign workers knowing that they are away from their families.

"In the spirit of Ramadan, we want to make them feel appreciated for their hard work and contribution to our neighbourhood."
