Repairs works have been carried out to fix a leaking roof at Cheng San Market & Cooked Food Centre, said Ang Mo Kio Town Council in response to queries.

Stomper P said that the roof at the hawker centre, located at Block 527 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, had been damaged for "over three months".

P, a frequent visitor of the market, shared photos and a video of the leak taken on Sunday (Sep 20), at around 12pm.

P said: "It rains within the hawker centre each time it's pouring, putting patrons at risk of slipping and falling.

"The leakage recently got worse so I hope Stomp can help and get the relevant team to fix it upon my report."

In response to queries, a spokesman for Ang Mo Kio Town Council told Stomp: "The town council was aware of the leaking roof in the food centre, and on Sep 21 had carried out the repair works to fix the leaks.

"Due to the shortage of workers faced by the town council's term contractor up till Sep 2020, repair works could only be carried out during the recent market closure from Sep 21 to 23, where the gutters were checked thoroughly and rectification works conducted safely.

"Prior to the repair, the town council ensured that the affected area was cordoned off and wet floor signage was put up as and when necessary.

"Together with the hawkers and market stall owners, we continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure a safe environment with minimal disruption to residents as far as possible."
