A recycling truck caught fire near Block 509 Bedok North Street 3 on Tuesday afternoon (Jan 10).

Stomper Michelle alerted Stomp to the incident and shared videos and photos she took.

"The recycling truck caught on fire after the workers emptied recycle bin items into the truck," said the Stomper.

In the footage, one man is seen attempting to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher while another man appears to be taking a video with his phone.

In response to a Stomp query the Singapore Civil Defence Force told Stomp they were alerted to the fire at the said location at about 12.30pm.

"The fire involved the rear compartment of a rubbish truck," an SCDF spokesman said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using one water jet."

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
