President Halimah Yacob to move out of Yishun flat due to 'challenges' with security

President Halimah Yacob will be moving out of her current home in Yishun on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

In a statement, the MHA said that there will be 'challenges' in ensuring her security should Mdm Halimah continue staying in her HDB flat.

Read the statement:

"The President had stated that she would like to continue to live in her current home in Yishun, subject to security considerations.

"MHA has conducted a careful assessment of the security arrangements for the President. It has informed the President that the security agencies face several challenges in ensuring her security and protection, if she continues to stay in her current home.

"MHA has therefore strongly advised the President to consider moving to another place. This will enable the agencies to ensure her safety and security with greater assurance."

In a Facebook post, the President announced that she has accepted the recommendations of the MHA.

She will make arrangements to move to a new place soon.
