Police respond to Stomp about FB video showing man being arrested at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange

Police have issued a statement to Stomp regarding a Facebook post about a man who was arrested at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange on Friday night (Sep 7).

The post appeared to have been originally uploaded by Facebook user Roger Lim, who said he witnessed the arrest.

To date, Lim's original post has garnered over 2,600 shares, more than 500 likes and almost 600 comments.

A video accompanying the post shows four Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) officers restraining a topless man and subsequently pinning him down.

The four-minute clip was also shared by other pages such as ROADS.sg and in public group Security Professionals @ SG.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said that officers were patrolling at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange at 9pm when they conducted a check on a 48-year-old man.

A police spokesman told Stomp: "While conducting the checks, the man did not comply with the officers’ instructions and took off his clothes.

"Despite repeated warnings by the officers, the man still refused to heed their instructions.

"He was subsequently arrested under the Mental Health Act.”
