Police investigating 3 men for suspected unlawful remote gambling, furniture to facilitate gambling activities seized

The police are investigating three men, aged between 47 to 67, for their suspected involvement in unlawful remote gambling activities.  

In an operation conducted on Tuesday (Sep 3), officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division raided a unit in an industrial building along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, where the three men were found to be engaged in unlawful remote gambling activities.

Cash amounting to about $2,000, one handphone, 10 computers, two laptops, gambling paraphernalia, documents containing transaction records, and furniture used to facilitate gambling activities, were seized as case exhibits.

Investigations are ongoing. 

If convicted for providing unlawful remote gambling services, they will face a fine of between $20,000 and $200,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Zhang Weihan expressed his appreciation to all the officers involved in the operation, and said: “The police take a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law.”
