The python in Bishan has managed to evade capture again today (May 5), despite efforts from the authorities.

In an earlier report, Stomper Jason had alerted Stomp to the large snake which was lurking at Block 163 Bishan Street 13 yesterday (May 4), while he was sending his daughter to school.

Jason took some photos and videos of the snake, which was seen curled up and lying motionless in a small drain, and submitted them to Stomp.

This morning, Jason once again spotted the snake in the drain at Block 163 at around 7.40am.

Police officers were also present and had cordoned off the area to prevent members of public from wandering too close to the snake.

According to Jason, as the officers were in midst of setting up the cordon, the snake slithered away.

Said the concerned father:

“My wife told me that a cleaner later came and covered the drain opening with some bricks.

“This is quite bad, as the drain leads to schools and playgrounds nearby, and kids can get hurt.”

Jason later contacted Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Chong Kee Hiong via Facebook, who promptly replied that he will dispatch either the Town Council, ACRES or Pest control team tomorrow around 6.30am to locate the snake.

Jason added:

“I was concerned about the neighbourhood kids, but Mr Chong replied so promptly.

“Thank you so much Mr Chong!”
