A man was apprehended by security and passers-by before getting arrested by the police at Clementi Mall yesterday (May 30) at around 9pm.

In response to Stomp's media queries, a police spokesperson said that the man was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt.

Stomper Elijah was at the scene when he saw security guards restraining the man whose shirt was torn at the Basement 1 level of the mall.

"He then broke free and ran towards the escalators before the guards gave chase to catch him," said Elijah.

"I saw one passer-by try to help them but the two security guards managed to restrain the man again while waiting for the police to arrive."

Elijah said that the police arrived at around 9.19pm to take down statements and investigate the situation.
