PMD rider arrested after allegedly assaulting man during dispute over right of way on pavement

A 24-year-old personal mobility device (PMD) rider who allegedly assaulted a man during a dispute has been arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means.

Police said that they received a report from the victim on Nov 26, "informing that he was assaulted by an unknown man who was riding a PMD after a dispute over the right of way along the pedestrian walkway along Yio Chu Kang Road".

The victim suffered facial injuries in the incident.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the PMD rider's identity and arrested him on Tuesday (Dec 17) along Hougang Street 31.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Anyone convicted for the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means shall be punished with a jail term of up to seven years and/or caning and/or a fine.

In their statement, the police also said that they take a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those breaking the law.
