PMD rider, 20, charged in court after colliding with pedestrian at Boon Lay sheltered walkway

A 20-year-old man was charged in court on Saturday (Mar 26) with negligent act causing grievous hurt following an accident involving his personal mobility device (PMD) and a pedestrian.

The police said they were alerted to the collision on March 23.

The victim was conveyed to the hospital for her injuries.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from the Jurong Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him on March 25.

The PMD was seized as a case exhibit.

The man was charged in court on Saturday for negligent act causing grievous hurt, which carries a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

The police said they will spare no effort to track down those who commit such brazen acts and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law.
