Stomper Joey was walking home on Tuesday night (Nov 26) when she noticed rats near the void deck of Block 466 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.

She took out her mobile phone to take a video -- only for a rat to come charging towards her.

Joey, who said the incident occurred at around 9.48pm, recounted: "It suddenly charged towards me.

"I started stomping my feet, causing it turn backwards and run away."

In a video that Joey shared with Stomp, she can be heard being startled by the rat, which then scurried away into a construction site.

The Stomper said: "I was very scared and disgusted. I even screamed.

"Thankfully, I wasn’t carrying my baby nephews nor niece at that time.

"I have written in to the authorities numerous times about rodents at the void deck but there has been no response. Now a rat charged towards me! Please help."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for Ang Mo Kio Town Council said it conducts regular pest control inspections of all its common areas for rodent management and treatment.

"Any active burrow detected will be treated immediately and appropriately," added the spokesman.

"In the last six months, we have not received any feedback regarding rodent sightings in the vicinity of Block 466 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.

"Nevertheless, our pest controller and the contractor carrying out work in that area had already conducted their site inspections after receiving this feedback and executed the necessary preventive measures. We will monitor the rodent situation in this area."
