A fire broke out in a trolley bin at Block 737 Pasir Ris Drive 10 in the wee hours of Tuesday (Nov 19).

The fire was extinguished by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) with a domestic hose reel after Stomper Rahman alerted them at around 1.35am.

Rahman, a resident at the block, said he was returning home from the shops when he noticed a "suffocating smell".

He told Stomp: "I went upstairs to my flat and saw a trickle of smoke from the trolley bin when I looked down.

"I judged it to be a bit too serious to ignore, so I gave the SCDF a call when smoke started coming out of the bin in puffs."

The police also arrived at the scene.

Responding to queries, an SCDF spokesman told Stomp that no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
