Queuing is so ingrained in Singaporean culture, a snaking line of customers has become synonymous with quality products or good bargains.
Stomper Rob was one of those who joined in a queue at the Tiong Bahru outlet of Ah Mah Traditional Homemade Egg Sponge Cake on Christmas Day (Dec 25).
He had heard from a friend earlier that there would be a one-for-one offer at all of the outlets island-wide for the day.
According to Rob, he joined the queue at around 10am and left with two cakes at around 12pm.
Said Rob:
“My friend himself started queueing at 8am.
“I came by myself so I couldn't go for a bathroom break.”
Asked about the taste of the sponge cakes, Rob was full of praises.
He added:
“They were nice and soft.
“I’ll definitely come back for more.”
