An explosion at an MRT construction site at Bandar, Malaysia, left one worker dead and two others in critical condition.
The explosion is believed to be caused by an old bomb from the era of the Second World War, reports The Star.
Kuala Lumpur police chief commissioner Datuk Amar Singh confirmed that it was an old bomb which went off but did not specify the type.
“It exploded suddenly while construction works were being done.”
MMC Gamuda KVMRT, the engineering company behind the MRT project, said in an official statement:
“Of the three injured, one succumbed to the injuries.
“Two others are in a critical condition.”
The workers were conveyed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment after the explosion.
They were reportedly in a stable condition at the point of admission, but their conditions worsened subsequently, it said.
