A woman is grateful to her Myanmarese caregiver for saving her life after she fell ill in the toilet just before Chinese New Year.

Madam Tan, who is in her 80s, told Stomp that if it were not for her helper Betty, she would not be alive.

Stomper Joshua shared what happened with Madam Tan on Jan 20.

"Madam Tan is an elderly lady who lives alone in an HDB flat in Toa Payoh," said the Stomper, who owns Top Faith, an agency providing live-in caregivers for the elderly.

"She hired a helper from us in December 2021. One day, she was very sick and couldn’t respond."

Madam Tan told Stomp that she suffered from a urinary tract infection. "I couldn't move," she said.

The Stomper continued: "So Betty called us for help. As I was busy with my work, I couldn’t go to see Madam Tan. I asked Betty to call an ambulance immediately and reach out to the neighbours to see if anyone could help.

"She followed our advice and the ambulance came in time."

The Stomper added: "It has been four months and Madam Tan called me a few days ago, looking to share her story with the public to show her appreciation for what Betty did."

Madam Tan said: "She saved my life. I don't know what I would do without her."

Thank you, Betty!
