Several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the entrance of a Housing Board (HDB) carpark in Tampines caught fire on Friday evening (Jan 22).

Stomper Evaline was driving into the carpark between Block 441 and Block 442 Tampines Street 43 at around 7.40pm when she noticed the fire.

Evaline, who shared videos showing at least four CCTV cameras in flames, said: "Someone used a fire extinguisher to stop the burning wire before the SCDF arrived."

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it was alerted to a fire at the carpark entrance of Block 433 to 443 Tampines Street 43 at around 7.35pm.

The fire involved a junction box of a CCTV system.

"A member of public extinguished the fire using a dry powder fire extinguisher prior to the SCDF's arrival," a spokesman added.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of fire is under investigation.
