A multi-vehicle accident caused massive congestion on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Thursday (Apr 20).

Stomper Tony alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos of the accident involving a bus, a tipper truck and two lorries.

He also shared a photo of the traffic jam that ensued because the third lane was blocked.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were spotted on the scene.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said they were alerted to the accident along the AYE towards the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE), before the Clementi Avenue 6 exit at 5.05pm.

"SCDF assessed a person for minor injuries and the person refused conveyance to the hospital," an SCDF spokesman said.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) posted a twitter update regarding the accident at 5.09pm, advising drivers to avoid the third lane.

At 5.39pm, LTA said there was traffic congestion until Yuan Ching exit.
