MPV runs red light at junction, hits taxi and flips on its side in 3-car accident near Lau Pa Sat

It appeared to come out of nowhere.

A Toyota Vellfire ran a red light at a junction and hit a taxi before flipping on its side near Lau Pa Sat on Tuesday night (March 21).

Stomper Anonymous shared a dash cam video showing cars on Central Boulevard going forward after the the traffic light turned green when a white car coming from Raffles Quay on the left failed to stop for the red light.

The MPV hit the blue ComfortDelgro taxi and turned on its side before sliding to a stop. The collision also caused the taxi to hit another car at the junction before coming to a stop at Cross Street.

Stomper Sayed shared a video showing the aftermath of the accident with police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles at the scene.

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to the accident at at the junction of Cross Street and Central Boulevard at about 10:30pm. Three people were assessed by an SCDF paramedic for minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.

When contacted by Stomp, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving three cars at about 10.25pm.

A 25-year-old car driver is assisting with police investigations, which are ongoing.
