Motorcyclist taken to hospital after crashing into taxi at Hougang Avenue 8

A motorcyclist crashed into the back of a taxi along Hougang Avenue 8 this morning (Oct 16) at about 7.30am.

The motorcyclist was taken to Sengkang General Hospital with minor injuries.

Stomper Lau Lup sent us some photos of the accident.

In the photos, a motorcycle is seen lying on its side on the road, in front of an ambulance.

A taxi can also be seen stopped along the side of the road.

"I was on the way to work, crossing the overhead bridge, when I saw this accident," he said.

"The accident caused a minor jam as buses and cars couldn't pass through due to the road obstruction."

Stomp understands that the motorcyclist was traveling along Hougang Avenue 8 when a taxi came out from a slip road and stopped at the road shoulder to pick up a passenger.

The motorcyclist then crashed into the back of the taxi.

In response to a Stomp media query, the police said: "On Oct 16, at 7.31 am, the police were alerted to an accident involving a motorcycle and a taxi, along Hougang Avenue 8 towards Hougang Avenue 7.

"The motorcyclist, a 44-year-old man, was conscious when conveyed to Sengkang General Hospital.

"Police investigations are ongoing."
