Stomper Ashim is looking for witnesses to an alleged accident in Woodlands on Thursday evening (June 21) that left his nephew bedridden.

Ashim told Stomp in a phone interview that the victim, Faris, is the son of his brother-in-law.

The 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures on his spine, neck, and collarbone, as well as bruises on his chest and near his rib cage.

According to Ashim, Faris was riding a motorcycle to pick up his girlfriend on the day of the accident. The family was informed about the accident on late Thursday night after receiving a call from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

However, Faris himself has no recollection of the accident.

Said Ashim:

"Fortunately, he is still coherent and could speak when we visited him on Thursday night.

"His latest memory was getting ready to leave the house at around 5.30pm on Thursday, and waking up at the intensive care unit (ICU) in the hospital on late Thursday night.

"Everything else in between is gone... a blank.

"We suspect that the accident happened near Woodlands Avenue 2 because he usually takes this route.

"Right now, we know very little about the incident. We do not know who called the ambulance, but we think some passing motorist could have done so.

"Hopefully, someone caught the incident on his or her dashboard camera."

Ashim also posted about the incident on his Facebook to look for witnesses.

He added that the accident has caused his family a lot of grief.

"A lot of tears were shed this festive season.

"I suspect that Faris would need a few months to recover from this. I hope anyone with information will come forward."
