A female employee drew flak after being seen resting her bare feet on a crate of donuts at a Mister Donut store in the Philippines.
Twitter user @alfreedb first shared images of the barefooted staff member using her phone while seated behind the store counter.
The June 9 post, which has garnered over 8,600 retweets and more than 12,000 likes, was captioned: "Bagong flavor ng donut (a new flavor of donut)."
The outlet where this occurred was not identified, reported the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Mister Donut Philippines responded to the controversy in a Facebook statement on the same day and said it was investigating the incident.
Read the post: "It has been brought to our attention that a post showing mishandling of our product is currently circulating the internet.
"We appreciate your concern about this matter and we would like to assure the public that the management is already doing an investigation and is coordinating with the concerned individual.
At Mister Donut, quality and safety of our products is our top priority. Any deviation from our standard processes and quality measures will be dealt with utmost importance.
"Rest assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure that this incident will not happen again in any of our stores."
