A 39-year-old man was fined $900 after being found with duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed on him at Woodlands Checkpoint last Sunday (Oct 7).
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (Oct 10), the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said that an officer had noticed an "unusual bulge" on the suspect's waist.
The man, a Malaysian work permit holder, had four packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes hidden along his waistline and another one packet in his bag.
"This method of concealment is a cause for concern as similar methods may be used by people with ill intent to smuggle security items into Singapore," added the ICA.
